LIGHTWING SAFETY

Service technicians are required to wear reflective hi-visibility protective gear during the full extent of operations. Road safety procedures start by applying DOT standard triangles, traffic cones, or road flares to protect the disabled/immobilized vehicle and its occupants. A service technician will approach the vehicle to assess the situation. All pets and passengers must be excited before loaded onto a wrecker. DOT standard straps are applied to vehicles followed by safety chains. Markers, signs, and/or triangles are removed just before leaving a scene. Hook coverage covers vehicles, equipment, or trailers under policy if an incident occurs during transport or recovery situations. Transport inspections are completed to look for unbolted wheels, broken suspension components, low hanging parts or cables, and tire pressures. While towing units commute with headlights, parking lights, and warning lamps. Towing/trailer lights are also applied at the rear of vehicles and equipment. Units are equipped with cameras as well as GPS monitoring. In the case of an emergency operators expedite assistance only when contacted by state and local authorities.
